1. Introduction

Time for Burgers (timeforburgers.com, "we," "us" or "our") publishes burger recipes and cooking guides. This policy explains what data the site handles, who receives it, and the choices you have. You can reach us about anything in it at contact@timeforburgers.com.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Units Preference (Stored in Your Browser)

If you switch a recipe between US and metric units, your choice is remembered in your own browser:

• Storage: Browser local storage, key tfb-unit-system
• Data Stored: Only the word "us" or "metric"
• Sent to us: Never. It stays on your device and is not a cookie
• Personal Information: None

Our own code does not set any cookies. Google, our advertising partner, does; see Section 4.2.

2.2 Anonymous Page-View Statistics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to see which pages are read, so we know which recipes and guides are useful. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser:

• Recorded per page view: the page, the referring site, country/region, browser, operating system and device type
• Identification: none. Visits are counted with a hash of the request that is discarded after 24 hours, so visits can't be linked to you or followed across sites
• Use: aggregated statistics only; we never see data about individual visitors

2.3 When You Email Us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to answer you and delete it once the conversation is finished, unless we need to keep it to meet a legal obligation.

3. How We Use Information

We use the little information described above for these purposes. For visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK and Switzerland, the legal basis under the GDPR is given for each:

• Units preference: to show recipe measurements in the system you chose. It never leaves your browser.
• Page-view statistics: to learn which recipes and guides are useful (our legitimate interest in improving the site).
• Emails: to answer you (our legitimate interest in replying to messages).
• Advertising: to fund the site. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, advertising cookies and personalized ads are used only with your consent. Some ad partners rely on legitimate interest for purposes such as measuring ad performance and preventing fraud; you can object to that under "Manage options" in the consent message.

We do not build profiles of visitors ourselves. Ads are served by Google as described in Section 4.2.

4. How We Share Information

4.1 Hosting and Statistics (Vercel)

The site is hosted by Vercel, which also provides the statistics in Section 2.2. To deliver pages and protect the site against abuse, Vercel processes technical data about each request, such as your IP address and browser details, in its server logs. That processing is covered by Vercel's own policy:

4.2 Advertising (Google AdSense)

To pay for the site, we show ads served by Google AdSense. When a page with ads loads, your browser sends information directly to Google, including the address of the page, your IP address and browser details. Google and its partners may set or read cookies to choose, show and measure ads:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• The ad partners that may receive data are listed in the consent message under "List of partners."
• Google's consent tool stores your privacy choices in cookies on this site, so it doesn't ask you again on every visit.
• How Google uses information from sites that show its ads: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Your choices about these ads are described in Section 7.2.

4.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order or government request, or where necessary to:

• Comply with legal obligations
• Protect our rights or property
• Prevent fraud or illegal activity
• Protect the safety of users or the public

5. Data Security

We use security measures suited to a site that collects almost no personal data:

• HTTPS Encryption: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted
• No First-Party Cookies: Our own code sets no cookies; advertising cookies are described in Section 4.2
• No Database: We don't store personal data in databases

6. Data Retention

• Units preference: stays in your browser until you clear site data for timeforburgers.com (Section 7.1)
• Page-view statistics: kept only as aggregated counts; the request hash is discarded after 24 hours
• Emails: deleted once the conversation is finished (Section 2.3)
• Server logs: kept by Vercel under its own policy (Section 4.1)
• Advertising cookies: kept by Google and its partners for the periods set in their policies; you can delete them at any time in your browser

7. Your Choices and Rights

7.1 Clearing Site Data in Your Browser

You can delete the units preference and any cookies stored for this site at any time by clearing site data for timeforburgers.com. The site works normally afterwards (recipes default to US units, and the consent message may ask again).

• Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
• Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
• Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data

7.2 Your Advertising Choices

• EEA, UK and Switzerland: Google's consent message asks for your consent before advertising cookies are used, and you can decline. If you decline, you may still see non-personalized or limited ads. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the "Privacy and cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page.
• US states with privacy laws: in states such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah and Texas, Google shows a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link on our pages. Using it opts you out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising in that browser.
• Everyone: you can turn off personalized ads in Google My Ad Center, opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info/choices, or block third-party cookies in your browser.

7.3 Rights in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

Under the GDPR and similar laws, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you (usually none, or only an email you sent us)
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data
• Restrict or object to processing based on legitimate interest
• Receive your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent at any time (Section 7.2), without affecting processing that took place before
• Complain to the data protection authority where you live

7.4 Rights in US States

Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas or Oregon), state privacy laws give you the right to:

• Know and access the personal information we collect about you (this policy describes it)
• Delete or correct personal information we hold (usually none, or only an email you sent us)
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising, using the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link (Section 7.2)
• Non-discrimination: we will not treat you differently for using these rights
• Appeal: if we turn down a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer, and if we deny the appeal, you can contact your state attorney general

8. Children's Privacy

Time for Burgers is a general audience website about cooking. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. International Data Transfers

The site can be visited from anywhere. Vercel and Google may process data in the United States and other countries. For data from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, they rely on recognized safeguards such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Links to External Websites

Our articles may link to other websites, such as food-safety sources or equipment makers. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies before giving them personal information.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a new "Last Updated" date at the top. If we change how we collect or use data in a significant way, we will also say so at the top of this page.
